South Africa's second democratic election is held with the ANC winning for the second time.

Thabo Mbeki is inaugurated as the second president of a democratic South Africa.

Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi appointed Minister of Public Service and Administration and serves on Central Committee of SACP.

Gill Marcus appointed Deputy Governor of the South African Reserve Bank.

Brigalia Bam on board of Matla Trust and SABC. She later becomes Chairperson of Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) (1999)
