Chiba, Laloo

Chiba was born and raised in Johannesburg. His interest in politics was sparked by the treason trial in 1956, which led to him joining the Transvaal Indian Congress, and in 1959 he joined the SACP.  He joined MK in 1961 and was in its original sabotage units. He was arrested in 1963, released after 90 days, after which he went underground until his arrest in July 1964. He was tried in the "Little Rivonia" trial, convicted and imprisoned on Robben Island.

In 1994 he became an ANC MP.
