Clewlow, Warren

Warren Clewlow was born on 13 July 1936. He was educated at Glenwood High School in Durban, and completed his qualifications at the University of Natal, eventually attaining becoming an OMSG and a CA (South Africa). He received an Hon. Professorship in Business Management and Administration from the University of Stellenbosch in 1986 and a D Econ (Ihc) from the University of Natal in 1988.

He is the current chair of Barlow Ltd and is a director of Pretoria Portland Cement, Old Mutual PLC and Sasol Ltd. He previously held the position of deputy chair, Standard Bank Investment Corp and Standard Bank of SA.

Clewlow has received many awards and commendations including the Order for Meritorious Service Class I (Gold) 1988, Marketing Man of the Year from the SA Institute of Marketing Management 1984, and was nominated one of the Sunday Times Top Five Businessmen of the Year in 1984. In 1986 he received the E G Malherbe Award from the University of Natal.

In 2003 he succeeded Chris Liebenberg as Chairman of Nedcor.
