Joint MK, APLA, TDF and VENDA Defence Force

A joint seminar of Umkhonto We Sizwe (MK) , Azanian People's Liberation Army (APLA) , Transkei and Venda Defence Forces was held in Thohoyandou in Venda on Saturday 21 August. Siphiwe Nyanda, Johnson Mlambo, Bridadiers Ntshinga and Ramushwana led their respective delegations.

The seminar was held to discuss:

Ø. the role of security forces during the transitional period

Ø. the formation of the new defence force

Ø. joint control of armed formations during transition

Ø. the establishment of a National PeaceKeeping Force and

Ø. the integration of armed forces

The seminar was permeated by the spirit of constructive and frank debates resulting in a broad consensus among delegates on the approach to all these matters.
