Mabhida, Moses

1923 - 1986

Mabhida was a trade unionist and political activist. He was a member of both the ANC and the CPSA and was involved in the formation of SACTU of which he became vice-president in 1955. He was an MK commander, a member of the NEC of the ANC, and a member of the Revolutionary Committee in 1969. He helped set up the ANC Department of Intelligence and Security and in 1978 was on the committee that produced the Green Book. He became General Secretary of the SACP.
