Mcbride, Robert

1963 -

McBride was a member of MK and commanded the unit that carried out the Magoo's Bar bombing in Durban, for which he was sentenced to death. In the 1990s he received amnesty. He then helped to establish self-defence units on the East Rand, and was elected to the Gauteng legislature. He was subsequently re-deployed to parliament before being posted to the Department of Foreign Affairs. In 1998 he was arrested in Mozambique and was charged with gun-running, treason and espionage. He is currently Ekurhuleni Police Commissioner.
