1834. Vagrancy Act

Simons & Simons (1969: 19) mention that a VAGRANCY LAW was "adopted in 1834 by the settler members of the legislative council." However, Crais (1992) refers to it as the "proposed 1834 VAGRANCY ACT" (p 140; emphasis added) and the "proposed VAGRANCY ORDINANCE" (p 84, and elsewhere; emphasis added). Moreover, Worden (1994: 68) specifically mentions that "the proposed VAGRANCY ORDINANCE of 1834 was vetoed." See also the VAGRANCY ACT of 1879.
