1918. Regulation of Wages, Apprenices & Improves Act.

This "applied to women and juvemles m specIfic IndustrIes, notably the 'sweated' trades, such as catering, tobacco, sweet and box-making. Local Trade boards were appointed to fix minimum wages and regulate working C?ndltlo~S, with a view to keeping white women off the streets and encouragIng white youths to serve an apprenticeship" (Simons & Simons 1969: 337).
