1955. Appellate Division Quorum Act No 25 or 27.

Dugard (1978: 31 +289) numbers this act 27, while Dyzenhaus (1991: 50) numbers it 25.

This act "enlarged the court from six to eleven judges and provided that all eleven had to sit in cases to determine the validity of a statute" (Dyzenhaus 1991: 50). Thomp~on (1991: 191) notes an increase from five to seven judges by some unspecIfied act of the same year. See also the SEPARATE REPRESENTATION OF VOTERS ACT of 1951.
