1959. Supreme Court Act No 59

Included herein is an oath according to which South African judges have to swear to "administer justice to all persons alike without fear, favour or prejudice, and, as the circumstances of any particular case may require, in accordance with the law and customs of the Republic of South Africa" (quoted by Dyzenhaus 1991: 112); due to the occurence of the word "Republic" this is obviously not a verbatim quote, unless it is taken from a later amendment (see also the REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA CONSTITUTION ACT of 1961).
