1965. Bantu Labour Regulations Act

This "placed parts of the bantustans, particularly in Natal and the Transvaal, off limits to the mines. Nonfarm workers from these districts who wanted to work in other sectors had to sign on elsewhere. In other areas the mining industry could recruit only in the townships and 'black spots', and not from resident farm-labor population" (Crush et al. 1991: 138). See the NATIVE LABOUR REGULATION ACT of 1911.

It was amended in 1965.
