1969. Electoral Laws Amendment Act No 99

This amendment aimed at excluding "persons who had been convicted and imprisoned under [the SUPPRESSION OF COMMUNISM ACT of 1950, and later the INTERNAL SECURITY ACT of 1976] ... from the franchise and consequently from holding poitical office" (Dugard 1978: 160).
