1969. General Laws Amendment Act No 101

This gave BOSS (see the PUBLIC SERVICE AMENDMENT ACT of 1969) "virtually unlimited power over the admission of evidence in court and over news of its activities" (Riley 1991: 108). Moreover, "Clause 10 prevented newspapers from reporting any BOSS activities that the government deemed might be 'prejudicial to security', and Clause 29 prohibited a person under investigation from testifying on his own behalf if the government felt that such evidence was harmful to state interests" (Riley 1991: 108).
