1990. ? Act(s)

The ANC, PAC and other organizations banned by the SUPPRESSION OF COMMUNISM ACT of 1950, the UNLAWFUL ORGANISATIONS ACT of 1960 and other acts, were again given the legal right to exist in South Africa. According to a famous speech dy President De Klerk on 2 February 1990, more than "60 banned organisations were legalised ... There was to be a moratorium on hangings. The SEPARATE AMENITIES ACT [of 1953] would be repealed. Detention without trial would be limited to six months" (Cook 1990: C/87). Whether or not all these things were stated in parliamentary acts or not, I do not know.
