Memela, Tootsie

1958 -

She grew up in Soweto and participated in the Soweto uprising in 1976. She left the country in 1977 and went to Swaziland, where she eventually joined the ANC. In 1981/82 she underwent military training in Angola and did a year's training in Cuba. She worked with the Political Military Committee based in Mozambique and helped with the infiltrating people from Swaziland into South Africa, including Mac Maharaj and Siphiwe Nyanda.
