This resource is hosted by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, but was compiled and authored by Padraig O’Malley. It is the product of almost two decades of research and includes analyses, chronologies, historical documents, and interviews from the apartheid and post-apartheid eras.

Tshabalala, Vuso

1956 -

Born in Cato Manor near Durban, his family was forcibly removed to KwaMashu in 1963. He became politically aware and active while in high school. In 1976 he first became linked with the ANC underground and left the country for military training in Tanzania, Angola and the GDR. He was recruited into Operation Vula in 1988 but managed to avoid being arrested. He now works for SARS.
